Q. Can I have some of my own teeth as well as Dental Implants?

A. Yes, dental implants can be used to replace as little as one tooth so no matter how many natural teeth you have, dental implants will be able to be used.

Q. Can Dental Implants always be used to replace missing teeth?

A. It all depends on your jaw bone. One of our dentists will do a few routine checks to make sure that you are able to have dental implants, once the tests have been concluded your assigned dentist will explain everything to you and if there’s not enough bone or if your jaw bone isn’t healthy enough then it may not be possible to have dental implant treatments. If that is the case then your dentist will explain the alternative treatments that will be available to you.

Q. What will my implants look like?

A. Your implants will look the exact same as your natural teeth that are surrounding them. Same size and colour so it won’t even be noticeable that you have a missing tooth/ teeth.

Q. Can I take the implants out?

A. Most dental implants that we provide at our practice can only be fitted and removed by one of our qualified dentists, this ensures that they stay fixed in the correct position. Having said that, if you have removable dentures attached to your dental implants then you will be able to remove these in order to clean them.

Q. How much do Dental Implants cost?

A. In most situations, the cost of dental implants is a little bit more than the cost of other dental treatments such as crowns and bridges. Having said that, over the long term, dental implants are more cost effective than other options available.

Q. What if my Dental Implants get damaged?

A. Implants are like normal teeth and can be damaged by accident. It’s extremely important that you wear the specially made mouth guard that you will get after the treatment if you are doing any sports activities. If your implant does get damaged or broken, then give us a call and we can book you in to get your implant replaced. If the titanium has been damaged beyond repair them it may be able to be safely left in the jaw if it is too difficult to remove, that way another implant may be able to be fitted alongside it.

Q. Are Dental Implants hard to keep clean?

A. No, dental implants are just like normal teeth so if you follow the right aftercare (which will be advised by one of our dentists) then you are going to have a long-lasting, successful implant.

Q. What happens after my treatment?

A. After your treatment, it will take a while for your jaw bone to fuse onto the titanium implant. This can take a few months but in most cases the implant is stable enough when they are first placed in. If you’re having more than one tooth removed for dental implants then you could be given a temporary denture in the meantime.
